Biography

Lucille “Lucy” Rose Selburg, 75, of Peoria, passed away at 4:35 p.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2008, at home.
Lucille was born on November 16, 1932, daughter of Charles William and Lucille Harriet Bentley Smith. She married Donald G. Selburg on December 2, 1950 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Peoria. He preceded her in death on December 23, 2006. Her parents and two brothers also preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Marie Allison (Ralph) of Peoria; granddaughter, Amie Rose Allison of Bridgeview; grandsons, Ryan Patrick Allison and Donald Edward Allison (Jennifer), all of Peoria; great grandson, Jacob Tyler Stoffle of Bridgeview. Donald and Jennifer are expecting the birth of their first child on September 9, 2008.
Lucille graduated from St. Patrick’s Grade School and, in 1950, from the Academy of Our Lady. She retired in 1993, after 34 years of service, as a Medical Transcriptionist for Proctor Hospital.
She was a parishioner at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Peoria Heights and a member of the Medical Transcriptionist’s Society and the Hiram Walker’s Sporting Club.
Lucille enjoyed collecting music boxes, hiking, camping, sewing and fishing. She especially enjoyed fishing in Minnesota, traveling out East and camping and fishing with all of her friends at the Hiram Walker Rod and Gun Club. She enjoyed listening to Perry Como, Tom Jones and Barbara Streisand, but Irish music was her favorite.
She loved attending her grandchildren’s activities, especially swimming with her granddaughter and attending her grandson’s sports activities ~ except for football. She was forced to be a Notre Dame fan!
Lucille loved being a mother and a grandmother and caring for and sneaking food to the dogs. She was honest, committed to her religious values, proud of her Irish ancestry and very dedicated to her family. She will be remembered for being loving, articulate, witty, reserved, organized and a devote Catholic.
A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 26, 2008, at her church, with Fr. Thomas E. Taylor as celebrant. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Interment will be held at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in West Peoria.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Thomas Building Fund, OSF Hospice or to PAWS.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted with Clary Funeral Consultants in Peoria.
